Privacy Policy for RambleCam

Last Updated: March 20, 2026

Overview

This privacy policy describes how CALMTECH LTD ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in relation to RambleCam. RambleCam is a screen recording platform comprising a Chrome extension and a web dashboard at app.ramble.cam. This policy covers both.

Data We Collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you use RambleCam:

  • From the extension: Recording preferences (recording bar position, webcam bubble size and shape), auth token when signed in, overlay positions for the recording controls.
  • From the dashboard: Account data (name, email, profile image), organisation and workspace information.
  • From recording: Video content (screen capture, webcam, microphone audio) that you record and upload.
  • From viewing: Analytics such as view counts, watch time, and engagement; when you are not logged in we use a hashed visitor ID for unique counting.
  • From interaction: Comments and reactions on videos.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the RambleCam service
  • Process your recordings (transcription, chapter generation, search)
  • Improve the product and understand usage patterns

We do not sell your data to third parties. Your content belongs to you.

Data Storage

Local storage (Chrome extension only)

The extension stores some data locally on your device using Chrome’s storage APIs:

  • Extension preferences (recording bar and webcam bubble settings, overlay positions)
  • Auth token (when signed in, so the extension can upload on your behalf)

You can clear this data at any time via Chrome’s extension settings.

Cloud storage

The marketing site and dashboard run on Vercel (AWS-backed infrastructure). Videos and related media are stored in Cloudflare R2. Video processing workloads run on Railway. User, organisation, and application data (including metadata for transcripts, comments, and analytics) are stored in Neon PostgreSQL. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest where our providers support it.

AI Processing

We use AI to improve your experience:

  • Transcription: Audio from your recordings is transcribed using OpenAI Whisper (cloud) or a local Whisper installation. Transcripts are used for captions and search.
  • Chapter generation: Transcript text may be sent to OpenRouter to generate video chapters.
  • Search: We generate embeddings from transcripts to power semantic search within your videos.

Your data is processed solely to provide these features. We do not use your content to train AI models or for any other purpose.

We use the following third-party services to operate RambleCam. Each processes data according to its own privacy policy:
