Features
RambleCam is a sharing-first screen recording platform: record with the Chrome extension, get instant links and embeds, then organise, collaborate, and measure — with AI transcripts and chapters built in.
Recording (Chrome extension)
Capture modes
Record the current tab, a single window, or your full screen — or use camera-only when you need a quick webcam clip. Built for demos, walkthroughs, and async updates.
Audio and camera
Optional microphone plus audio from the tab or window you are capturing. Webcam overlay, picture-in-picture above other windows, hidden camera for later compositing, or no camera — all per recording.
Built for long takes
Progressive upload starts while you record, so you are not stuck waiting at the end. Pause and resume, a live timer and badge, and a draggable control bar (or compact badge-only mode).
Processing and AI
Automatic transcoding and thumbnails
After you stop, recordings are processed server-side: WebM is transcoded to widely supported MP4 (H.264/AAC), and thumbnails are generated for your library and links.
Transcription and chapters
Automatic transcripts with timestamps, plus AI-generated chapter markers from the transcript for quick navigation. Transcript embeddings are generated to power future semantic search.
Async pipeline
Processing runs in the background via a durable job system. You get a shareable watch link as soon as the pipeline completes — no manual export step.
Dashboard and library
Organise your workspace
Folders and workspace-wide tags, list and grid views, and rich video cards with thumbnails, duration, creator, and quick actions. Filter the library by tag, including from the URL.
Watch page
Dedicated playback with a clickable transcript, AI chapter list, and timestamp-pinned emoji reactions on the timeline. Threaded comments with timestamp pins for feedback and discussion.
Trim
Trim the start and end of a recording from the dashboard; processing updates the delivered video server-side so viewers get the cut-down version from the same link.
Sharing and embeds
Instant links and visibility
Each recording gets a short, stable share URL. Choose public (anyone with the link), organisation-only, or private — so the same product handles customer-facing clips and internal library.
Embeds and rich previews
Iframe embed for Notion, docs, and blogs; oEmbed for apps like Slack and Discord; Open Graph tags for link previews in chat and social — sharing-first from day one.
Collaboration and analytics
Comments and reactions
Threaded replies, comments pinned to moments in the video, and full edit/delete control. Emoji reactions on the timeline (signed-in viewers) for lightweight engagement.
Viewer analytics
For video owners: unique visitors, views, plays, cumulative watch time, and a retention-style heatmap of which segments held attention — without storing unnecessary personal data.
Organisations and security
Team workspaces
Organisations with roles (owner, admin, member), teams as sub-groups, email invitations, and optional workspace branding. Built for shared libraries, not siloed uploads.
Storage, encryption, and privacy
Media lives in object storage with metadata in PostgreSQL; data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Public, org, and private visibility models keep sharing explicit — we do not monetise your recordings.
